Woman from Kavadarci swallowed heroin when she saw police, transferred to Toxicology

A 22-year-old woman from Kavadarci swallowed a larger quantity of heroin after noticing police at the toll ramp near Kadrifakovo and was transferred to the University Clinic for Toxicology, the police reported. The incident occurred on 30 May 2026.

Police sources said that after the incident the Shtip Police Department filed a criminal complaint related to drug trafficking and the transport of narcotic substances. The bulletin provided a description of the reported individuals and the scene of the incident.

"The Shtip Police Department filed a criminal complaint against N.A. (25) and R.J. (27) from Kocani and N.A. (22) from Kavadarci on grounds of reasonable suspicion of committing the criminal offense of 'unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and precursors'. On 30 May 2026 at the toll ramp near Kadrifakovo, the reported persons noticed a police patrol, whereupon the third reported person swallowed a larger quantity of heroin, and tests at the University Clinic for Toxicology confirmed that there was a larger amount of heroin in her body," the police bulletin reads.

A similar case recently ended tragically: a 32-year-old resident of Ohrid died after swallowing a package of drugs to avoid arrest. In both this and the previous case, the risk associated with swallowing drug packages is evident and often fatal.

The police and the prosecution are working on further collecting evidence and determining responsibilities related to the trafficking and transport of narcotic substances.
