Diego Moreira joins AC Milan in transfer worth around €50 million

AC Milan has completed the signing of Diego Moreira in a deal reported to be worth around €50 million. The 22-year-old left-back arrives as one of the most highly rated players at his position after an up-and-down spell in French football.

Background and career path

Moreira, a Belgium international who switched his sporting nationality after representing Portugal at youth level, was most recently part of the Strasbourg squad in France. Earlier in his career he spent time with Chelsea and Benfica in their youth setups and senior squads.

At 22, the left-back is considered one of the most promising talents on the flank, combining defensive work with forward thrust—qualities that have attracted Milan’s interest and justified the sizeable transfer fee.

Diego is the son of former professional Almami Moreira, who had notable stints with Partizan and Vojvodina. Almami was once a favourite among the black-and-white supporters in Belgrade.

The move to AC Milan marks the next step in Moreira’s career as he looks to establish himself at a club with high expectations and European ambitions.
