Dick Advocaat to remain Curaçao coach and will lead team into his 80s

Dick Advocaat will remain the head coach of Curaçao after signing a new multi-year contract with the federation, the island nation confirmed on Wednesday.
Experienced coach to continue
The 79-year-old Dutchman — who helped make Curaçao one of the tournament’s surprise stories at the last World Cup — accepted the federation’s request to stay on as manager. Because the deal spans several seasons, Advocaat will continue in charge into his ninth decade.
Federation officials described the move as a vote of confidence in the coach who has become the country’s most successful selector. Advocaat’s appointment follows sustained interest from the federation to keep continuity in the team’s development.
Curaçao will soon begin its CONCACAF Nations League campaign and has been drawn alongside Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Trinidad and Tobago. Those fixtures mark the immediate competitive task for the squad under Advocaat’s extended tenure.
The new agreement ensures Advocaat will lead preparations and selections for the upcoming Nations League matches and beyond as the federation plans for the next cycle of competitive fixtures.
