Deontay Wilder agrees to fight Jai Opetaia on Fury–Joshua card in Cardiff
Shelly Finkel says the offer was accepted but the contract remains unsigned and the weight class is still to be decided.

Deontay Wilder has agreed in principle to fight undefeated Australian Jai Opetaia on the undercard of the Tyson Fury–Anthony Joshua bill scheduled for December 11, 2026, in Cardiff.
Manager confirms acceptance but contract not signed
Boxing journalist Dan Rafael reported the development, and Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel has told promoters they accepted the offer — though the contract has not yet been signed. The two sides still need to decide in which weight division the bout would take place.
Opetaia enters the possible matchup with an unblemished professional record of 31 wins and no losses. A fight with Wilder would mark a climb into the heavyweight ranks for the Australian, where he would face a former world champion known for a devastating punch.
Wilder, 40, last fought in April, when he edged Derek Chisora by split decision in London. The Fury–Joshua main event is set for the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
At this stage the appearance of Wilder and Opetaia on the December 11 card has not been officially confirmed; organizers and the fighters’ teams are expected to finalise terms and announce details in the coming weeks.
