Alsat TV operational director Lirim Hajredini was found dead near the Mavrovka shopping center on 13 August 2026, authorities and local reports say.
The scene was secured by police and, according to available information, the death is being treated as a suicide. The body is to be handed over for an autopsy as part of the standard investigative procedure.
Hajredini had served for more than 16 years as the operational director of Alsat, the first national Albanian-language television in North Macedonia.
Role in the wider media sector
He was also visible across the broader media industry; in public appearances and analyses Hajredini spoke about media financing, subsidies and market conditions, and he took part in events together with representatives of other national broadcasters.
Police have not released further details about the circumstances of the death while formal forensic and investigative steps continue. Family members and colleagues have not issued public statements so far.
