Jorge Martin dominates Silverstone sprint
Aprilia's Jorge Martin led from lights to flag in the MotoGP sprint at Silverstone, his third Saturday win of 2026.
Jorge Martin continued his strong run at Silverstone, winning the sprint race at the British Grand Prix on 08.08.2026 and bringing an end to Ducati's recent sprint supremacy at the circuit.
The Aprilia rider dominated the 12th round of this season's MotoGP championship, leading from the start to the checkered flag to claim his third sprint victory of the campaign.
Key moments and the podium
Ai Ogura, riding for Trackhouse, finished second, about two seconds adrift of Martin, while Marco Bezzecchi completed the podium in third place. Bezzecchi had returned to action after breaking his collarbone in a crash at the Sachsenring four weeks earlier.
Marc Marquez suffered a difficult sprint at Silverstone after encountering a rear‑tyre problem; he slipped down the order and ultimately crossed the line in ninth. In the fight for the final championship point the defending champion finished just ahead of Diogo Moreira (LCR Honda) by 27 thousandths.
Martin had already topped qualifying earlier in the day. The main race is scheduled for tomorrow, 09.08.2026, at 14:00.
