Drama in New Belgrade: Milan Gurović rescues man from burning car

Former Serbian international Milan Gurović pulled a man to safety from a burning car in New Belgrade after the vehicle suddenly caught fire, preventing what could have become a fatal outcome.

Quick action near the Lidl on Vojvođanska Street

The incident happened on Vojvođanska Street, close to the Lidl supermarket in New Belgrade. Gurović, who was returning by car to his apartment, saw a vehicle ahead turn, stop and then begin to burn. Witnesses say the moments that followed were decisive.

According to on-scene accounts, the driver of the burning car was unable to get out. Gurović ran to the vehicle, opened it and pulled the man out to a safe distance before the fire spread further.

The rescued man was taken to hospital and received medical treatment. Emergency crews later found the car completely burned; little remained of the vehicle after the blaze.

Those at the scene said Gurović's rapid response was the key factor that prevented the incident from ending in tragedy. The former basketball player, known for his years with the Serbian national team, left the scene once the injured person had been handed over to medical personnel.
