The State Archive published documents and photographs about ASNOM and the birth of the Macedonian state
The archive published documents and photographs dedicated to the First session of ASNOM and the formation of the Macedonian state.
On the occasion of 2 August — Republic Day, the State Archive published a selection of archival documents and photographs dedicated to the First session of ASNOM and the creation of the modern Macedonian state.
The materials published by the archive recall that on 2 August 1944, at the St. Prohor Pčinjski Monastery, decisions were made that laid the foundations of Macedonian statehood and affirmed the aspiration for "a free, equal and democratic Macedonia."
Decisions with long-term significance
Among the key documents are recorded the introduction of the Macedonian language as an official language and the adoption of the Declaration on the Basic Rights of the Citizens of Democratic Macedonia, which established equality and fundamental civil liberties.
The exhibited materials contain authentic testimonies — minutes, photographs and other records — which visitors and researchers can examine to trace the events and political decisions that shaped the development of state institutions.
The State Archive notes that the exhibition aims to recall the historical role of ASNOM and the values on which Macedonian statehood is based, offering the materials as a public resource for education and commemoration.
