DUI: 83 government sessions without minutes published in Albanian
DUI demands reasons and immediate publication after 83 cabinet sessions went without Albanian versions of minutes; last Albanian minutes dated 19 September 2025.
The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) has accused the Government of North Macedonia of failing to publish minutes from its cabinet sessions in Albanian for almost a year, calling the omission a scandal and demanding explanations and institutional accountability.
In a party statement DUI said the last minutes published in Albanian are dated 19 September 2025, and that "since then 83 government sessions have taken place, and the minutes from them are still not available in the Albanian version on the official website. These are official documents of the highest executive body and cover a period of 11 months. Such a number of unpublished documents requires a full explanation of how the Law on Use of Languages is being implemented within the Government itself."
The party noted that the issue has been raised publicly before, and that government representatives previously claimed the minutes were available in Albanian.
Calls for publication and legal checks
DUI said it condemns "such disregard for the legal obligations on the use of the Albanian language and demands institutional responsibility. We demand that the Government publicly announce the reasons why these minutes were not published, determine who is responsible for this situation and immediately publish all missing documentation in Albanian."
The party also pointed out that the Law on Use of Languages foresees sanctions for non‑compliance and urged relevant institutions to investigate whether grounds for accountability exist and to act in accordance with the law. In its statement DUI urged the Inspectorate for the Use of Languages to intervene, saying that, "unfortunately, it has almost ceased to be effective. 'Nevredi' has been degraded and weakened to such an extent that this institution, which should have been one of the main mechanisms for the protection of the Albanian language, has practically been rendered powerless."
DUI repeated its demand for the immediate publication of all missing minutes in Albanian and for those responsible to be held to account.
