DUI demands answers about Nedim Rama’s Mercedes shares

DUI is asking for clarification after the property record of Nedim Rama — the director of NOMAGAS and described as a close associate of Izet Medzhiti — showed ownership of shares in large foreign firms, including Mercedes‑Benz Group AG.

DUI says the purchase took place while Rama already held the NOMAGAS post

In a statement sent to media, the party noted that according to Rama’s own declaration the shares were acquired on 22 April 2026, a date when he was already serving as director of NOMAGAS. DUI says that simple submission of an asset form to the Anti‑Corruption Commission did not close the outstanding questions.

The opposition listed a series of questions it expects answered and asked the anti‑corruption authorities to verify transaction details. DUI’s questions read, in translation:

  • “With what money did Nedim Rama buy shares in foreign companies while he was director of NOMAGAS?”
  • “How much exactly did he invest in Mercedes‑Benz Group AG?”
  • “Were these investments declared within the legal deadline?”
  • “Are there other foreign investments that have not yet been made public?”

DUI underlined that these are not private matters because NOMAGAS is a strategic state company; therefore any significant increase in a public official’s assets during their mandate must have a clear and verifiable origin.

The party formally requested that the State Commission for Prevention of Corruption examine the source of funds, the purchase date, the value of the investments and the timing of their declaration. DUI also called on Nedim Rama to come forward and explain the origin of the money.

Translated from the statement’s closing line, DUI asked: “As director of NOMAGAS, during his mandate, how did he secure capital for investments in Mercedes and other international companies?”
