DUI demands rerun of police secondary-school recruitment after only 11 of 310 accepted were from non‑majority communities

DUI has asked that the recruitment competition for the secondary police school be repeated after it found that, out of 310 accepted candidates, only 11 came from non-majority communities.

The party also demanded political responsibility and called for the resignation of Deputy Interior Minister Astrit Iseni of VLEN, arguing that the mere formal presence of an official from that position cannot serve as an alibi for the exclusion of Albanians from state institutions. Fair representation and measurable safeguards

DUI said the low share of minority recruits — less than three percent identified as Albanian, according to the party — demonstrates a pattern of systematic exclusion from public order and security structures and asked for the competition to be rerun with strict respect for appropriate community representation.

In a statement the party warned that the problem affects not only Albanians but also Turks, Roma, Serbs and other communities, and that the current trend creates an institutional supremacy rooted in a monistic matrix.

"At the same time, we demand that clear, measurable and mandatory mechanisms for fair and appropriate representation be established in police and security structures, from recruitment up to leadership positions. One cannot allow what was built for years to be undone in just two years and for Albanians to be reduced to institutional decoration. This is not a question of one competition, nor of one individual, but of equality, of the multiethnic character of the state and of respect for the Ohrid Framework Agreement", the party said, adding that Albanians do not seek privileges but fair representation.

DUI reiterated its call for a rerun of the admission procedure and for concrete, enforceable measures that will guarantee proportional participation of all communities in the police and related security institutions.
