Durant open to playing for USA at 2028 Olympics
Houston forward leaves door open to a place on the USA roster for Los Angeles 2028, saying selection will depend on form and the choices of Grant Hill.
Kevin Durant has not ruled out joining the United States at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, saying his participation will hinge on his standing among the country's top players when the roster is assembled.
The Houston Rockets forward told reporters he remains focused on improving his game and hopes to receive an invitation, but acknowledged the depth of talent vying for places on the national team.
"That depends on Grant Hill and what he wants to do with the USA team. I keep working to improve my game and I hope I'll get a call, but there are so many great players who deserve a spot on the team," Durant said.
The 2028 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles. Durant already has an extensive Olympic résumé: he is a four-time Olympic gold medallist with the United States, having won gold in 2012, 2016, 2020 and 2024.
Durant's remark keeps open the possibility that a veteran star could return to international play for another Olympic cycle if both his form and the selectors' plans align.
For now, Durant remains a key figure for the Houston Rockets and a candidate for future USA Basketball consideration should he maintain his level among the nation's elite.
