Two Plačkovica forestry workers beaten near Shtip; one hospitalized
Attack by suspected wood thieves followed a warning; deputy director Kire Mihailov reported the case to police and posted on Facebook.

Two employees of the Plačkovica forestry unit near Shtip were beaten by individuals described as wood thieves after the workers warned them not to steal firewood. One of the injured men suffered more serious wounds and was taken to hospital.
The attacked workers are employed by the public enterprise National Forests. The assault occurred while they were carrying out duties related to protecting state forests in the Shtip area.
Official report and public warning
Kire Mihailov, deputy director of the public enterprise National Forests, said he has reported the case to the police. To alert citizens and potential wood thieves he also posted about the incident on his Facebook profile.
The enterprise confirmed the identities of the injured as employees of the Plačkovica unit but did not provide additional personal details. One worker's condition required hospital treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Local police have been notified, according to Mihailov. The National Forests public enterprise said it will continue to monitor forest areas and take measures to protect forest property and staff safety.
