Dwight Powell signs with Fenerbahçe

Dwight Powell has agreed to join Fenerbahçe and will spend the remainder of the season in Istanbul, the club announced on October 30, 2026. The veteran forward — who brings 13 NBA seasons of experience — makes the move to Europe after his options in the NBA narrowed this offseason.

Career and role

Powell comes with an extensive NBA résumé and drew interest from several EuroLeague clubs thanks to his reliability and shooting efficiency. Turkish offers ultimately proved decisive, with Fenerbahçe presenting the strongest financial package and a clear role on the roster.

The Canadian-born player is regarded as one of the most accurate shooters in Dallas franchise history, posting a 60% field-goal percentage during his time with the Mavericks. That efficiency is a key reason Fenerbahçe pursued him as it seeks interior scoring and finishing options.

Club officials say Powell will integrate immediately into the team’s rotation and provide veteran minutes on both ends of the floor. He is expected to be available for selection shortly after completing administrative registration with the Turkish Basketball Federation and EuroLeague paperwork.

The signing marks Powell’s first professional stint outside North America after a long NBA career. Fenerbahçe will rely on his NBA experience as it competes domestically and in the EuroLeague through the rest of the campaign.

Date: October 30, 2026.
