Two minors stab 18-year-old in central Belgrade; victim left bleeding
Two minors are accused of stabbing an 18-year-old in central Belgrade; one detained, the other referred to social services.
An 18-year-old woman was stabbed after midnight in central Belgrade by two younger girls who fled the scene and left her bleeding on the street, police said.
Rapid police response and investigation
Officers from the Savski Venac police station, together with the Department for Criminal Police, opened an immediate inquiry and, through operational work on the ground, quickly clarified the circumstances of the attack. Investigators said they were taken aback by the ages of the assailants.
One of the suspects, a 15-year-old girl, was arrested on suspicion of violent behaviour. By order of the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade she was questioned through regular procedure in the presence of her parents.
The second participant is only 13 years old; because she is not criminally responsible as a child, she will be questioned in the presence of her parents and her case has been referred to the Centre for Social Work.
After the attack the girls attempted to conceal traces of the crime: they broke the knife used to wound A.M. and discarded it in the Old Town area. Police later recovered the broken blade and seized it as a key piece of evidence.
