State Statistical Office: Exports up 8.4% in January–July 2026, imports up 7.8%
Exports grew 8.4% to €5,102.9M and imports increased 7.8% to €7,199.3M in January–July 2026; EU countries account for 58.7% of trade.
The value of North Macedonia's goods exports in January–July 2026 reached 5,102.9 million euros, marking an 8.4% increase compared with the same period a year earlier. Imports for the same interval amounted to 7,199.3 million euros, up 7.8%, the State Statistical Office reported.
Among exported items, the largest shares came from catalysts mounted on carriers containing noble metals or their compounds, sets of ignition conductors and similar products for vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts for seats and other carrier catalysts.
On the import side, the most prominent categories were platinum and platinum alloys, unworked or in powder; other metals of the platinum group and their alloys, unworked or in powder; petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except crude); and other motor vehicles for the transport of persons.
Major trading partners and EU weight
For the January–July 2026 period, the largest bilateral trade volumes were with Germany, the United Kingdom, China, Greece and Serbia. These five countries together accounted for 49.4% of North Macedonia's total foreign trade turnover.
Member states of the European Union represented 58.7% of the country's overall trade volume in the same period.
Because imports exceeded exports, the trade deficit for January–July 2026 stands at 2,096.4 million euros. The statistical breakdown highlights the continued importance of automotive- and precious-metal-related products in export and import flows.
