Eboni Clark to walk from south Bristol to hospital where she was treated

Twenty-four-year-old Eboni Clark from Hartcliffe in Bristol, who has had to relearn how to walk eight times, is preparing to undertake a charity march despite living with a condition that causes her constant pain.

Clark lives with hypermobility, a disorder that makes her joints prone to dislocation and leaves her bones exceptionally fragile; she has already undergone several hip operations.

In January she will attempt to walk from south Bristol to Chew Valley Lake and from there to the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children to raise money for the Grand Appeal. Clark spent much of her childhood as a patient at that children’s hospital, receiving treatment from a very young age until she turned 17.

From patient to hospital staff, and back on her feet

Today Clark works as an administrative officer within the same hospital trust, Bristol NHS, where she was treated while growing up. She says the planned route links places that have shaped her life as both patient and employee.

The walk is intended to raise funds and awareness for the charity that supports the children’s hospital, and to show that people living with long‑term conditions can still lead active, purposeful lives despite chronic pain and repeated setbacks.
