One year since Vladimir “Pancho” Blazhev’s death
Fans mark 14 October 2026 and recall Pancho’s music, the Kočani tragedy, and a haunting farewell post.

Today, 14 October 2026, marks one year since the death of Vladimir Blazhev — widely known as Pancho — the Macedonian singer, musician, DJ and co‑founder of the influential urban duo DNK. His passing left a visible void on North Macedonia’s music scene and reopened the wound of the Kočani nightclub tragedy that claimed several lives.
Remembering a generation‑defining artist
Pancho spent more than two decades shaping the country’s contemporary urban sound. Together with Andrej Gjorgjieski he helped write songs that defined generations — from early hits such as “Devojka za vezden” and “Blagodaram odanpre” to landmark albums and arena shows at Metropolis and the Boris Trajkovski Arena.
Offstage, and behind the playful DJ persona Shorty P, he carried a difficult personal story: he grew up without his father and was raised largely by his devoted mother, Kaćusha. He later built a family with his wife Maja and their sons.
The Kočani fire on 16 March 2025 changed everything — it took the life of his musical partner Andrej and many friends. After months of heroic treatment for severe injuries, Pancho died on 14 October 2025.
One of his old social‑media posts has taken on chilling resonance in the year since. With the song “Ako utre me nema” playing in the background, he addressed his audience with words that today read like a farewell and a request at once: “Death is nothing special, I am only somewhere near you in another room. I am me and you are still you, and we will always remain what we have been. From time to time call on me, talk to me just like we always spoke. Do not change your voice.
“Do not grieve. Laugh out loud just like always when we were together and when I did stupid things and sometimes pray for me and for my soul that wanders around.
“Do not forget me just because you do not see me, I will wait for you somewhere nearby, right around the corner. Everything is fine, I see you and I rejoice at your every success, and I also grieve when you grieve,” he wrote, adding an angel emoji. Those lines keep returning in memories and playlists, reminding fans that his voice remains in every refrain and every beat that still moves the crowd.
