EHF confirms North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia among bidders for EURO 2034
North Macedonia is one of ten federations that filed letters of interest; official candidature dossiers are next and final bids are due by 1 March 2027.
The European Handball Federation (EHF) has officially confirmed that North Macedonia is among ten national federations that submitted letters of interest to host the men's European Championship in 2034.
Alongside North Macedonia, the federations that indicated interest are Austria, Croatia, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden and Turkey.
According to the EHF timetable, the deadline for sending letters of interest closed on Wednesday, and the organisation has moved into the next phase of preparing formal candidatures from the interested federations.
Joint bid and hosting history
North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia have presented a joint candidacy for the 2034 tournament; that intention was announced roughly a month ago. For North Macedonia this represents a chance to stage a major European handball event for a second time after co-hosting the women's EHF EURO 2022 with Slovenia and Montenegro.
The men's EURO 2034 is scheduled to be played from 10 to 29 January, and the competition will include a quarter-final stage — a change to the event format. Interested federations have until 1 March 2027 to submit their official applications.
