EIB lends €100 million for 1.3 GW Dama Solar near Arad
The €728 million project by Rezolv Energy will supply power for about 280,000 households and include habitat restoration measures.

The European Investment Bank will lend €100 million to finance the construction of the Dama Solar photovoltaic park near Arad, Romania, a project with an estimated total cost of €728 million.
The 1.3 gigawatt-peak (GWp) installation, developed by Rezolv Energy, is expected to produce enough electricity annually to cover the needs of more than 280,000 households — roughly one million people — placing it among the largest solar capacities in Europe.
Grid connection, sales and local impact
Dama Solar will be connected to Romania’s high-voltage grid and its output is intended to raise the share of renewables and strengthen the country’s energy security. Long-term arrangements are already in place for part of the plant’s output: 520 megawatts are covered by two 15-year contracts, while the remaining electricity will be sold on the market and to commercial and industrial consumers under long-term agreements.
During the peak construction phase over the next three years, the project will employ up to 1,500 people, bringing additional economic activity to the Arad region.
Beyond power generation, the project includes environmental measures: roughly 82 hectares of natural areas will be restored and lower-quality agricultural land will be converted to grazing pasture maintained by sheep. Those measures aim to rehabilitate degraded steppe grasslands and create habitats for wildlife and protected bird species.
