Elena Velevska: I had breast augmentation in 2006 and I don't regret it
The folk singer said on a TV show she had the procedure in Bulgaria in 2006, when cosmetic surgery was still a taboo subject in North Macedonia.

Folk singer Elena Velevska openly told viewers she underwent breast augmentation in 2006, saying she chose the procedure at a moment when aesthetic surgery was still a delicate topic in North Macedonia.
On-screen recollection and motive
Velevska said the operation was carried out in Bulgaria and that she has spoken about it recently on the talk show "Kafe muabeti". She told the studio audience that the decision dated back to 2006, when discussing cosmetic procedures was largely taboo at home.
Recalling the moment on television, she surprised viewers with a candid remark about her looks at the time: "Even if I hadn't boasted then, perhaps no one would have noticed because I had naturally beautiful breasts."
She added another clear statement about her feelings today: "It doesn't bother me at all and I don't regret having made such a correction." Velevska also emphasized that she continues to feel confident about her appearance.
The broadcast also placed Velevska in the wider regional context: the article mentioned that among the first on the Balkans to have breast augmentation was singer Zorica Brunclik, who had her first implants four decades ago. According to the anecdote recounted on air, TV host Suzana Mancic admired Brunclik's result during a joint tour and asked where she had the procedure done; impressed, Mancic later travelled to Munich to see the same surgeon.
Velevska remains a prominent name on the pop-folk scene and appeared on the show in a confident mood, discussing a choice she says she does not regret.
