Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister Elma Aveiro lashes out at Portuguese politician
Elma Aveiro publicly replied to Maria Jonet’s criticism of Cristiano Ronaldo after he did not play vs Norway on 27 September.

Elma Aveiro, sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, publicly denounced Portuguese politician Maria Jonet on Tuesday after Jonet criticised the star following his departure from the Portugal national team.
Background and the spark
The dispute traces back to Ronaldo’s absence from Portugal’s match against Norway on 27 September, when coach Jorge Jesus decided not to field him. Jonet responded with sharp criticism of Ronaldo’s character, prompting an immediate reaction from his family.
Maria Jonet said: "The Portuguese do not treat Cristiano Ronaldo the same way they treat the Argentines with Messi, because he is a disgusting person — someone who does not admit his own weaknesses."
Elma Aveiro answered without hesitation, publicly questioning Jonet’s motives and knowledge of her brother: "Does anyone know who this crazy man is? I don't know him at all, but I want to find out who he is, because what he said about my brother only shows that he doesn't know him at all."
She added a harsher judgement: "He must be a very unhappy, stupid and jealous man. It's shameful for a Portuguese to say such things." Aveiro framed her post as a defence of Ronaldo's reputation after the national team controversy.
The exchange underlines how heated debates about Ronaldo’s role in the national team remain a flashpoint in Portugal, especially after visible tensions surrounding selection decisions and his ongoing club career at Al-Nassr.
