Emre Belözoğlu appointed Fenerbahçe head coach

Fenerbahçe has officially appointed Emre Belözoğlu as the club's new head coach, the Istanbul side confirmed on November 3, 2026. The 46-year-old returns to the yellow‑navy outfit where he previously played and later served in sporting and coaching roles.

Belözoğlu takes over from Ismail Kartal, who left the post following Fenerbahçe's derby defeat to Galatasaray. The club had also entered talks with Sérgio Conceição but was unable to reach an agreement.

Coaching path back to Kadıköy

Most recently Belözoğlu was in charge at Kasımpaşa. His managerial résumé also includes spells at İstanbul Başakşehir, Ankaragücü and Antalyaspor, experience the board cited as among the reasons for his return.

The appointment marks another chapter in Belözoğlu's long association with Fenerbahçe: he is a former player of the club and has previously filled roles in the club's sporting department and on the coaching staff.

Fenerbahçe's decision comes as the team looks to steady results after the setback in the Istanbul derby and to mount a stronger challenge in coming fixtures under a familiar figure.
