Erling Haaland unveils markedly shorter haircut ahead of 2026/27 season

Erling Haaland has surprised fans by dramatically changing his hairstyle ahead of the new Premier League season: the Manchester City striker has cut his long blonde hair very short, a departure from the look he has worn since arriving at the club.

New look before the start of the season

Haaland's long, light-colored hair became one of his most recognisable traits in recent years, but he opted for a much shorter cut this week — a style that recalls his early days at Borussia Dortmund, when he was breaking through as one of Europe’s brightest young forwards.

The Norwegian forward decided the timing was right for a clean change of image before the campaign begins, closing a chapter on the hairstyle that helped make him instantly identifiable around the world.

Haaland will be able to show his new haircut on the pitch as soon as this week, when Manchester City face Bournemouth in the opening round of the Premier League at 15:00 on August 23, 2026.

Whether the shorter hair will bring extra fortune in front of goal remains to be seen — although Haaland certainly has not needed luck to score in recent seasons.
