Estonia named best relocation destination by the Rumavi Index
The "Rumavi" Index ranked countries by criteria important for different types of migrants.
Published: 07 August, 2026 17:39. The global relocation index "Rumavi" released a new ranking that places Estonia as the most favorable country for relocation, evaluating conditions according to different migrant profiles: digital nomads, families, entrepreneurs and retirees.
Estonia claimed first place thanks to its high level of security, political and economic stability, a developed banking system, abundant business opportunities and strong protection of property rights for foreign residents.
Singapore is in second place and stands out for entrepreneurs and families, primarily due to high-quality digital infrastructure, a strong banking sector and low climate risk. The index, however, notes that high housing costs and limited options for permanent residency can pose a barrier for immigrants.
Prices, healthcare and tax reliefs
Malaysia is third on the list and is especially attractive for retirees and digital nomads because of lower living costs. It is followed by Portugal, Taiwan, Lithuania, Hong Kong, Saint Kitts and Nevis, the Czech Republic and Malta.
The index also lists specific advantages by country: Taiwan for healthcare and digital infrastructure; while Hong Kong, Saint Kitts and Nevis and Malta are noted for tax reliefs. The Czech Republic and Lithuania are highlighted as good options for families, with favorable living costs and a stable living environment.
"Rumavi" combines the factors relevant to different relocation profiles and provides a detailed analysis of the advantages and weaknesses of each country, rather than declaring a single absolute "best" destination for everyone.
