On 24.09.2026, the new EuroLeague season opened with several tight games and an upset in Belgrade, where Crvena zvezda fell 77:83 to Žalgiris in front of their home crowd at the Belgrade Arena.
Crvena zvezda’s offense received a strong contribution from Chris Jones, but Žalgiris built an early platform through Jonas Valanciunas, who scored 11 points in the first quarter, and preserved the lead late thanks to key plays from Carsen Edwards and Sterling Brown.
Earlier on the opening night, Dubai produced one of the evening’s headlines by beating Real Madrid 78:77 in dramatic fashion — the hosts overturned the game and clinched the win in the final seconds.
There was another surprise in Sofia where Bayern Munich edged Hapoel Tel Aviv 86:84. Bayern had led by as many as 18 points before the hosts fought back and briefly took the lead; Johannes Voigtmann’s late three-pointer restored Bayern’s advantage and sealed the victory.
