EXPO 2027 Belgrade opens business and tourism opportunities for Serbia and North Macedonia

More intensive trade and tourism links between Serbia and North Macedonia are opening new opportunities for business cooperation ahead of EXPO 2027 Belgrade, participants said at a networking event in Skopje on 8 October.

The Visit Serbia B2B Networking meeting brought together more than 50 representatives from the business and tourism sectors. Held as part of the Visit Serbia promotional tour, the forum was intended to help companies and tourism professionals from both countries explore partnerships connected to the upcoming Expo.

What EXPO 2027 will offer businesses

North Macedonia will attend EXPO 2027 Belgrade with a national pavilion under the theme "All the Rhythms of the Sun." The pavilion is planned to showcase the country’s music, gastronomy, wine, tourism, culture and creative industries to an international audience.

Registration for the Expo’s volunteer programme has already surpassed 16,000 applicants, including 850 candidates from North Macedonia.

"I am especially pleased by the strong interest in our volunteer programme. Our volunteers will be the face of Expo hospitality — the people who next year will welcome the world to Belgrade," said Danilo Jerinić, Director General of EXPO 2027 Belgrade.

Organisers say EXPO 2027 will offer businesses numerous ways to make international contacts and build partnerships: six themed business forums, a two-day Global Business and Technology Summit, more than 250 bilateral business events and over 50,000 business meetings. A dedicated digital B2B platform will let companies identify potential partners and schedule meetings in advance.

Speakers at the Skopje meeting also discussed deeper tourism cooperation, proposing joint itineraries that would encourage international visitors to include both countries in a single trip. Between January and July 2026, Serbia received 82,047 tourists from North Macedonia — a 22% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

"That is precisely why we are here today: to invite the business and tourism community of North Macedonia to turn EXPO 2027 Belgrade into a joint opportunity for our region," Jerinić added.
