Kristian Fabiani says goodbye to Vardar: "I leave with a clear conscience"

Kristian Fabiani has publicly bid farewell to Vardar one week after the club terminated his contract, reflecting on his time with North Macedonia's most decorated team.

Fabiani's spell at Vardar was marked by disappointing results in European competition and a heavy home defeat in the second league round against Shkëndija; critics also pointed to the squad's poor physical condition under his leadership.

Farewell message

In a long written address Fabiani thanked players, staff, club employees, the board and supporters, and stressed he leaves knowing he did his best. His message read in part:

"Dear Vardar family, Today the moment has come for me to say goodbye to this club and I want to do it from the heart, because behind every match, every training, every trip and every difficulty remain many experiences and memories that I will carry with me forever.

I want to thank the players, the coaching staff, the club employees, the management and, especially, all the supporters who were with us. From the first day I tried to give everything from myself, with dedication, work and passion for football.

I know that in football circumstances and decisions sometimes make paths split. But that does not change the respect and love I carry with me for Vardar and for all the people who are part of this club.

I leave with a clear conscience, knowing that I gave my all every day of my work. I also carry with me many learned lessons, friendships and moments that will remain in my memory forever.

From the heart I wish Vardar to continue to grow, to compete and to achieve great successes. This club has a huge history and people who deserve much joy.

Thank you, Vardar, for allowing me to be part of your history.

Until next time and good luck!" wrote Fabiani.

The club now faces the task of appointing a new coach and addressing the tactical and physical issues that affected their recent performances.
