Filip Stojkovski impressed on Zvezdite na Grand with classic Macedonian songs

Filip Stojkovski, a 33-year-old singer from Kumanovo, turned heads on the talent show Zvezdite na Grand with renditions of classic Macedonian songs, including "Lichna Jovano" by Naum Petreski and material associated with Pepi Baftirovski.

His performance of "Lichna Jovano" earned him the show’s crucial seventh vote from Dara Bubamara, which normally would have sent him straight through and allowed him to pick a mentor. Shortly after giving the vote, Dara withdrew it, and Mili did the same, relinquishing their chances to act as mentors — a move that left Filip unable to choose a mentor on his own.

After the vote Dara commented: "I liked it. Great tone, excellent performance, you look great, so everything fits with our project. I sincerely congratulate you and I'm very sorry that these two withdrew their votes, because you were supposed to choose your mentor — that's the least we can offer you with these seven votes."

Judges' reactions and the mentor decision

Ceca added praise after the performance: "In any case, welcome to the Grand flock, I think your place is here."

Snežana Djurisic told Filip she was particularly happy he had chosen two beautiful old Macedonian songs, saying they show that he is involved in music, that he listens to and works with music rather than only singing it. She concluded: "I sincerely congratulate you. And if you can sing this, surely you know everything else as well," and Filip thanked her for the comment.

At the end of the episode the Grand director announced that Snežana Djurisic will be Filip's mentor. Outside the show, Filip performs around local venues in North Macedonia with his band; about a year ago he drew attention with his arrangement of the popular Macedonian song "Zajdi, zajdi."
