Filipche and Mickoski clash over water pollution; investigation called for 2019 cases
Parliamentary debate over water pollution and the call for an investigation into the 2019 reports.
At today's session for parliamentary questions, mutual accusations of incompetence, corruption, lies, poverty and a low standard of living flared up between the president of the opposition SDSM and the prime minister.
The main topic of the debate was a series of cases of contaminated water across the country and the way institutions inform and protect citizens' health.
As recorded in the session minutes, Filipche pointed out that the government has no response to the series of contaminated water cases and that citizens are left without information about the risks to their health, while no one is taking responsibility for the poisoning.
Reports and call to the Prosecutor's Office
Mickoski, meanwhile, presented reports from the Center for Public Health from the time when Filipche was minister, accusing him of having taken no action and calling on the Prosecutor's Office to look into the allegations contained in them.
As Mickoski himself said: "I call on the Prosecutor's Office to look into the allegations about the water in Prilep, Krushevo and Makedonski Brod from 2019." The exchange raised the question of institutional responsibility and whether citizens are receiving timely and accurate information about public health risks.
The session showed that the issue of water quality remains a political and public concern, while demands for investigation and accountability continue to be on the agenda.
