Venko Filipche in Sveti Nikole: Government left citizens and farmers without aid
SDSM leader accused the VMRO‑DPMNE government of neglect and demanded laws to raise the minimum wage to €600 and fund farmers.
Venko Filipche, leader of SDSM, visited Sveti Nikole today and held meetings with residents and farmers where he outlined what he called the everyday hardships faced by people in the region. Filipche accused the VMRO‑DPMNE government of abandoning citizens during the crisis and said agricultural producers have been left without help.
Calls for concrete parliamentary measures
Filipche described mounting costs and a lack of state assistance as central problems confronting pensioners, large families and low‑paid workers. He singled out the sharp rise in fuel prices, saying that fuel has reached 105 denars per litre and that no targeted help has been provided to any of the groups that need it most.
“The citizens share with us the enormous, accumulated everyday problems, without any care and help from the authorities. On the huge costs for fuel which have reached 105 denars per litre, there is no help for any critical category of citizens who truly need it. Pensioners have the smallest pensions, social cases, families with many children and people on the minimum wage,” Filipche said.
He reminded that SDSM has filed proposals in Parliament that include raising the minimum wage to 600 euros and providing financial support to farmers affected by the crisis. Filipche urged the authorities to consider those bills and to respond to citizens’ demands.
“We discussed our proposals in Parliament, the draft law to increase the minimum wage to 600 euros and the draft law for financial support in this crisis facing agriculture, and I hope that this un‑popular, criminal, corrupt and anti‑Macedonian government will truly come forward and provide support, or at least once in this recent period will listen to the voice of the people,” Filipche said.
The visit highlights growing political pressure ahead of parliamentary debates, with SDSM pressing for immediate measures to ease living costs and to shore up the agricultural sector.
