Film-like burglary in Belgrade: safe with €400,000 and gold jewellery stolen
Unknown intruder stole a safe with about €400,000 in cash and gold jewellery; police collected fingerprints and are checking CCTV.

A well-planned burglary in a Belgrade neighbourhood ended with a safe containing about €400,000 in cash and a large quantity of gold jewellery being stolen, authorities report.
The property owner returned on 21 August and found the house’s door forced open; he immediately called the police and reported that a safe with around 400.000 euros in cash and a significant amount of gold jewellery had been taken.
Police forensic work under way
Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Serbia arrived quickly, carried out a detailed on-site inspection and processed the scene forensically. All discovered fingerprints and biological traces were collected for possible identification of the suspect.
Investigators say the theft appears to have been carefully prepared and that the perpetrator likely had precise information in advance. The intruder apparently knew the homeowner had been absent from the property for the previous seven days, which gave time to enter unnoticed, locate the well-hidden safe and remove it from the house.
Police are reviewing security-camera footage from surrounding streets as part of the ongoing investigation and are working to track down the daring intruder.
In a separate development, Željko Vujović has been arrested; he ran over people with a car on a meadow in Herzegovina.
