Bashkimi 1947 sack coach after two rounds; Shaban Sulejmani takes over

Published: 11.08.2026 20:43 — After just two rounds of the new Macedonian First League season, Bashkimi 1947 have dismissed their head coach and named a replacement.

Following an identical quick decision by Vardar earlier this week to sack Kristian Fabiani, Bashkimi announced the dismissal of Gajur Redjepi and the appointment of Shaban Sulejmani as the club's new coach.

New coach with regional experience

“KF Bashkimi 1947 has reached an agreement with coach Shaban Sulejmani, who was recently an assistant coach at Rabotnicki. He has experience at Liria Prizren, where he contributed to the formation of the team in the Superleague, as well as at Besa Doberdoj, Gostivar and Spark from Haracina.

The club welcomes Shaban and hopes for successful cooperation. By mutual agreement, the club has ended cooperation with Gajur Redjepi, to whom it thanks for his contribution and wishes him much success in the future,” the camp of the Kumanovo first-league side said, adding that the club suffered a catastrophic start to the new season: two matches, two heavy defeats and an aggregate goal difference of 0:11.

The change comes as Bashkimi searches for an immediate turnaround after consecutive losses that have left the team at the foot of the table. Sulejmani — formerly an assistant at Rabotnicki — inherits a squad under pressure to deliver results fast.

Club officials stated they expect Sulejmani’s regional experience to stabilise the dressing room and improve performances. The club expressed appreciation for Redjepi’s work and wished him success in his next steps.
