FC Karposhovo claimed first place at the Balkan Championship for athletes with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities, held in Sofia, Bulgaria from 2 to 4 October 2026.

The team of players with Down syndrome and mild intellectual disabilities faced national sides from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia and Croatia during the three-day event organized by the Federation for Adapted Physical Activity of Bulgaria (FAPA).

Venue and organisation

Matches were played on artificial turf pitches at the Military Academy "Georgi S. Rakovski" in Sofia. The tournament brought together teams from four countries and focused on competition as well as visibility and inclusion for athletes with disabilities.

The victory is presented as recognition of the players' dedication, the coaching staff's work and the group's team spirit, and it also underlines broader messages about inclusion and equal opportunity in sport.

Activities by FC Karposhovo are implemented under the project "Football for All Children" and are supported by the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM) and the UEFA Foundation for Children to promote social integration and equal opportunities through football.
