FK Vardar pays UEFA fine of €250,000

FK Vardar announced on 10 September 2026 that it has paid a UEFA fine totaling €250,000. The club said the payment settles a sanction imposed over financial irregularities that occurred under previous ownership.
Club statement and UEFA findings
In an official message the club said: "FK Vardar AD today paid the fine to UEFA in the amount of 250,000 euros (two hundred and fifty thousand euros).
The fine concerns irregularities, manipulations, forgeries and illegal actions carried out by previous owners, shareholders and the board of directors. Period before the summer of 2024.
In the 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons illegal double contracts were concluded (for example: the contracts with Blazevski and Glisic), money was paid from other accounts, accounting documentation is missing and a dozen other irregularities listed in UEFA's rationale for the fine."
The club did not publish further financial details beyond the amount and the summary of UEFA's findings. Vardar, long one of North Macedonia's most prominent teams, has faced reputational and administrative scrutiny tied to its prior leadership in recent years.
Paying the sanction closes one of the formal sanctions from UEFA, but the club will still have to manage any internal or national procedures that arise from the same findings. Supporters and local football authorities will be watching how the club proceeds with governance reforms going forward.
