Flick blocks Ferran Torres’ exit from Barcelona (03.08.2026)
Hansi Flick has told Barcelona management that Ferran Torres will remain at the club this summer; a contract renewal in September would trigger an €8 million payment to Manchester City.

Barcelona’s head coach Hansi Flick has informed the club’s hierarchy that Ferran Torres will not be sold during the current summer transfer window, the club confirmed on August 3, 2026.
Flick regards the Spanish forward as a core element of his project and wants Torres to remain in the squad despite reported interest from Paris Saint-Germain. The coach sees Torres as an important option in the attacking group following the departure of Robert Lewandowski.
The club also plans to extend Torres’s contract after the window closes, with formal steps expected in September. The renewal would activate a mandatory payment clause of €8 million that Barcelona must pay to Manchester City.
Squad planning and timing
Torres, 26, is viewed by the coaching staff as a player who can cover multiple attacking roles and provide continuity while Barcelona integrates new pieces into the forward line.
Barcelona’s decision to keep Torres for now closes the door on any immediate move to PSG and signals that the club prefers to resolve his long-term status through a contract extension rather than a sale during this transfer period.
