Flick: Jamal travels with Barcelona, focus on Valencia
Flick says Jamal trained separately, will travel tonight and Barcelona must focus on itself after Real’s loss
At a press conference on September 5, 2026, Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick confirmed the squad's plans ahead of tomorrow's LaLiga fixture away at Valencia, scheduled for 16:15.
Asked about the fitness of Lamin Jamal, who had reported an injury in recent days, Flick gave an update on the player's condition.
"There was an injury and he did not train with the team. He worked separately today, but after training he himself said that everything is fine. He travels with us tonight and I hope he will be able to play tomorrow," Flick said.
Flick avoids looking at Real's slip
When the conversation turned to Real Madrid's unexpected defeat, Flick stressed that Barcelona must concentrate on their own preparations rather than scoreboard comparisons.
"Real played a great match and had many chances. But in the end they lost, which happens in football. For us it is most important to focus on ourselves," he added, responding to a question about whether he had expected a points gap to open so early in the season.
The coach also confirmed the team will travel to Valencia tonight and final selection decisions will be made before kick-off. Earlier reports from other fixtures noted that Lazio were stronger regarding Diogo Leite.
