Florentino Perez brings Bernd Reichart into Real Madrid's leadership
Perez has appointed the former face of the Super League to run the club's business and commercial operations.

Real Madrid has added a high-profile non-playing figure to its staff: on October 16, 2026, club president Florentino Perez appointed Bernd Reichart, long associated with the Super League project, to a senior commercial role.
Background and significance
Reichart spent years as one of the most recognizable faces of the Super League initiative and led A22 Sports Management, the company set up to promote the project. His arrival in Madrid has drawn attention because of his prominent role in efforts to reshape European club football.
According to reports, Reichart will take charge of Real Madrid's business arm and will report directly to the club's chief executive, Jose Angel Sanchez. His remit will include commercial operations, sponsorship agreements, merchandise sales and the commercial exploitation of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium.
The Super League was a central project for Perez as an alternative to the existing European competitions, and Reichart played an important part in trying to implement it. The initiative ultimately failed; critics now say Perez's hire looks like a return of favour, since Real was the club most closely identified with the Super League.
As a reminder of the sporting side, Real Madrid produced a dramatic comeback in midweek, beating Roma 4:3 in Rome in the second round of the Champions League.
