On 27 September 2026 Dinamo Zagreb staged an uncommon event at Maksimir: the club's futsal team hosted Istra outdoors as part of the club's "weekend of Dinamo" programme.
The match was played on a specially installed futsal pitch placed beneath the stadium's south stand, giving players a view of the main arena while the game unfolded under open sky as part of the first round of this season's Croatian Futsal Championship.
Supporters and atmosphere
Supporters of Dinamo — the Bad Blue Boys — turned up in large numbers and produced a lively spectacle along the stand and around the temporary court. Organisers emphasised the event was conceived as a fan celebration rather than a conventional league fixture.
On the field the result mattered less than the occasion: Istra left Maksimir with a 1:2 victory.
The outdoor futsal experiment at Maksimir underlined the club's push to broaden its match-day offerings and create new spectacles for supporters.
