Matej Gashtarov stars as Red Star win with stoppage‑time own goal

Matej Gashtarov produced an eye-catching performance and Red Star grabbed a dramatic 2:1 win over Inter Escaldes in the third round of the Conference League group stage on 5 November 2026.
Late scenes decided the outcome in Belgrade
The match had been goalless at half-time before Inter Escaldes took the lead in the 62nd minute through Borja Arellano, who finished after an assist by Mauricio Pochettino. Red Star responded in the 80th minute when Vladimir Lucic levelled following a pass from Rade Krunic.
Just when the game looked set to finish as a draw, Javier Diaz turned the ball into his own net in the 90+2nd minute and handed the home supporters a huge celebration and three points. Gashtarov struck the post during the match and was also judged the standout player in the Red Star line-up.
In another Group match, Eljif Elmas played the full 90 minutes as Atalanta were held 1:1 by Kairat Almaty. The visitors from Kazakhstan had taken the lead in the 53rd minute through Marc Gual, assisted by Edmilson, before Nikola Krstovic rescued Atalanta with an equaliser in the 82nd minute after a pass from Relja Obric.
Borac Banja Luka, coached by Herrera, were beaten 2:0 away in Sweden by Mjallby.
