Gjoko Hadzhievski returns to Dubai as head coach of Al Medinah Wanderers
Experienced Macedonian coach Gjoko Hadzhievski has arrived in the UAE and started a new spell at Al Medinah Wanderers after leaving Spartak Varna.
Gjoko Hadzhievski has returned to Dubai to take charge of Al Medinah Wanderers, the veteran Macedonian coach confirmed after arriving in the United Arab Emirates on the night following his split from Spartak Varna.
New assignment in a lower division
The appointment comes only days after Hadzhievski and Spartak Varna parted ways. Al Medinah Wanderers — a lower-division club based in Dubai — hired the experienced coach hoping his long résumé in the region will lift the team's fortunes.
Hadzhievski brings decades of work in the Arabian football circuit, having managed Najran, Al Taawoun, Al Qadsiah, Hatta, Al Jafra, Emirates Club, Hajer and others during his career.
Clubs officials described the move as a bid to stabilise results and inject experience into the squad; for Hadzhievski it represents a fresh project after his recent exit from Bulgaria.
The Dubai job will be the 34th coaching assignment in Hadzhievski’s long career, which has included several repeat stints at clubs such as Vardar, Pelister and Hatta.
Also making a move from Spartak Varna is his grandson, Georg Stojanovski, who has left the Bulgarian club and is currently undergoing medical tests with newly promoted first-division side Lusial.
