Lina Gjoreska was eliminated in the first round of the WTA 125 tournament in Ljubljana, a €100,000 event, after a three-set match against Romania's Mariam Bulgaru.

Gjoreska lost to Mariam Bulgaru 2-1 in sets (64 16 62) after 2 hours and 15 minutes of play. The Romanian took the opening set 6-4, with the only break coming in the first game and proving decisive.
Gjoreska responded strongly in the second set, racing to a 5-0 lead and closing it out 6-1 to level the match at one set apiece.
The decider began in Bulgaru's favour as she moved ahead 3-0. Gjoreska fought back to 3-2, but Bulgaru then won three consecutive games to secure the victory.
The Macedonian number one will next appear at the tournament in Ankara next week.
