Ljubljanska Street's new bridge in Skopje is expected to open by the end of this year, Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski announced during an inspection of the construction site.

The bridge will link Ljubljanska and Skupi streets and is intended to improve access to the neighborhoods of Slokučani and Bardovci, as well as the nearby industrial zone. Officials say vehicle flows on Partizanski Odredi and Ilinden boulevards should ease after the bridge opens.

Gjorgjievski said the project is a modern traffic solution with a 12‑metre roadway and four traffic lanes — two lanes in each direction — covering a total of 5,350 square metres. On both sides there will be pedestrian and bicycle paths, each two metres wide, together covering 3,815 square metres.

He added that retaining walls have been built using 2,050 cubic metres of concrete, stormwater drains extend for 473 metres, and street lighting has been installed on 40 poles to increase safety and visibility.

“With serious work and a responsible approach, the permit that my predecessors stalled has been secured, the protection of cultural heritage has been maintained, and construction activities from today continue with increased intensity,” Gjorgjievski said. He inspected the site together with Karpoš Mayor Sotir Lukrovski and Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski.

The City of Skopje is also advancing a separate project for a large park in Karpoš covering 70,000 square metres, which will include landscaping, pedestrian paths, a hydrant network and urban furnishings.
