Gjuretanovic posts personal best in 200m freestyle at European Championships in Paris

Nikola Gjuretanovic improved his personal best in the 200 metres freestyle while competing at the European Championships in Paris.

The North Macedonian swimmer — the country’s only representative at the meet — finished sixth in his qualifying heat with a time of 1:52.59, shaving his previous best of 1:52.86.

Next event: 400m freestyle

Gjuretanovic is also entered in the 400 metres freestyle at the same championships. The qualifying heats for that distance are scheduled for Sunday, 16 August, with a start time of 09:30.

His 200m performance marks a step forward in a championship setting and gives the swimmer momentum heading into the longer race later in the week.

Team and coaching staff will now focus on recovery and race plan adjustments ahead of the 400m qualifiers.
