Nikola Gjuretanovic swam the 400m at the European Championships in Paris
Gjuretanovic finished 49th in the 400 m heats with a time of 4:04.05 and earlier broke the national 200 m record set in 1996.
Young Macedonian swimmer Nikola Gjuretanovic competed at the European Aquatics Championships in Paris on August 16, 2026, taking part in the 400-metre freestyle heats.
Gjuretanovic posts 4:04.05 in 400m, had earlier broken national 200m record
In the 400 m qualifying round Gjuretanovic finished 49th overall out of a field of 55 swimmers, stopping the clock at 4:04.05. That time left him 19 seconds behind the winner of his heat, Oliver Clement.
Earlier in the meet the Macedonian representative produced a standout swim in the 200 m event, where he lowered the national record previously held by Aleksandar Malenko and set in 1996.
The Paris championships have gathered a deep field across distances, and Gjuretanovic’s results on August 16 underline both his continuing development and Macedonia’s presence at the continental level.
The Macedonian team remains in Paris for the remainder of the European Championships as competitors prepare for the upcoming sessions.
