Igor Gjuzelov tells Goce Sedloski: "Resign, don't struggle"

On September 30, 2026 former North Macedonia international Igor Gjuzelov publicly urged national team coach Goce Sedloski to step down after the latest defeat in Ljubljana and a run of matches without a goal.

Former players and social media react

Reactions to the Slovenia–North Macedonia match in Ljubljana, and the national side's continuing poor form — including six consecutive games without scoring — have spilled onto social media and prompted comments from ex-players.

Gjuzelov addressed Sedloski directly on his Facebook page with a blunt call for resignation. He wrote: "Sedlo, don't struggle; be honest with yourself, resign immediately if you have even a little sense — you can't force something beautiful. (sincere advice) With each passing day, with each next match, with every statement you make you sink and sink... simply it isn't working for you; it's obvious from the plane that there is no cohesion between you, the players and the leadership of the Football Federation of North Macedonia (FFM). At the moment the entire FFM is in free fall, it's knocked out and it doesn't even know what or how next. (The A team has never had such negative results.) Not that the next coach will perform miracles — the public always looks for a 'scapegoat' to be satisfied until the next one... and nobody tells the truth or the real picture! Do we have expertise? Do we have capacity? Do we have quality? What quality? Limited? We can play with anyone but reality is different. Armenia, Cyprus, Malta, Georgia, Bulgaria, Liechtenstein, Kazakhstan, Gibraltar, Estonia, Latvia... that is our reality at the moment and what was before, how we could then — that no longer exists; there is no going back, sadly, and going forward will be hard, very hard, God help us," wrote Gjuzelov on his Facebook profile.

The former international accused a lack of unity between the coach, players and federation leadership and warned that negative results had left the Football Federation of North Macedonia politically and operationally weakened.

Earlier criticism had also come from other former national players, with Alomerović and Mladenovski described as being in the "red zone" of public opinion after the string of disappointing performances.
