Pack of stray dogs attacks 10-year-old in Gjorche Petrov, Skopje

A pack of stray dogs attacked a 10-year-old child in the Gjorche Petrov neighbourhood of Skopje while the boy was riding his bicycle to school, residents say.

According to the child's mother, the animals ran after him and barked; the child fell from the bicycle and was hurt, but people who were on the street intervened and prevented a worse outcome.

Residents say the problem is ongoing

People who live on Hristo Batandzhiev Street say they have been living with the nuisance of the same pack for months and are afraid to let their children go outside. They report repeated complaints to Laika but say there has been no effective solution.

Residents added that some dogs taken from another town were collected by Laika, but after being microchipped they were returned to the neighbourhood.

In a written complaint sent by the parents of the attacked child to Laika they wrote: "This happens every day with some child. It is not normal to live in fear every day, to be afraid to leave the house because of a pack of dogs. If it is not your duty to solve the problem, your institution is not needed. You are of no use to the citizens. You are doing marketing, but you are not solving the real problem."
