Large wildfire rages in southern Albania near Delvina and Finiq

A large wildfire is burning in southern Albania around Delvina and Finiq, and Interior Minister Besfort Lamallari described the situation as critical.
Emergency response under way
"For hours we have been facing a difficult situation due to the fires in several villages in Delvina and Finiq, and the absolute priority of the services is the protection of the population and homes. All our structures are on the ground and the operation continues without interruption, both from the ground and from the air, with the engagement of numerous firefighting forces, the state police, the armed forces, local services and three helicopters, two Cougars and one Black Hawk," Lamallari said.
Lamallari urged residents to follow instructions from the authorities and to avoid any actions that could create additional risk.
Fires are being fought in multiple locations across the country, but the most serious situation is reported around Darda mountain, followed by Librazhd, Malakastër and Ballsh.
Authorities have mobilised firefighting units, police and military contingents and are operating both on the ground and from the air with the three helicopters mentioned by the minister. The response is ongoing as services prioritise protecting people and homes.
Officials continue to monitor the situation and call on the public to remain alert and comply with safety directions while crews work to contain the blazes.
