Heat wave continues in North Macedonia — up to 38°C today, Skopje 37°C
Daytime highs 32–38°C, locally up to 40°C; Skopje 21–37°C, north winds and possible afternoon showers
Sunny and very warm conditions will dominate North Macedonia today, with daytime highs approaching the upper 30s Celsius in many places, the Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR) warned.
Across the country the lowest temperatures are expected between 13 and 22 degrees, while daytime maximums will generally range from 32 to 38 degrees. In some areas the heat wave will push thermometers as high as 40 degrees.
In Skopje the forecast calls for sunny and very warm weather with only a few to moderate clouds. Winds will be light to moderate from the north, and the minimum temperature is expected to fall to 21 while the maximum will reach 37 degrees.
Afternoon instability and local showers
Along the Vardar valley winds may pick up at times, and during the afternoon a localized build-up of unstable clouds could produce short-lived heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in some spots.
Authorities also report two active open-field fires burning in the municipalities of Makedonski Brod and Strumica, adding an extra element of local risk in affected areas.
Residents are advised to take usual precautions against heat exposure and follow any local instructions related to the fires and sudden afternoon storms.
