Severe storm hits Kavadarci, moving toward Negotino
Heavy rain, thunder, strong winds and reports of hail in Kavadarci; unstable air also affecting several other municipalities.
A severe thunderstorm struck Kavadarci this evening, bringing heavy rain, thunder, strong gusts and reports of hail, and the unstable air mass is moving toward Negotino.
Widespread afternoon instability
The Hydrometeorological Service (UHMR) said the same unstable conditions were observed in several other municipalities, including Kochani, Kicevo, Sveti Nikole, west of Demir Hisar and Makedonski Brod. Evening rain and thunder also affected parts of the Skopje basin, though with limited intensity so far.
Earlier today UHMR recorded unstable weather west of Krusevo and around Bitola, while heavy showers with thunder and strong wind hit the vicinity of Strumica and areas south of Berovo.
So far there is no information about any damage.
UHMR had warned earlier that the afternoon hours would bring locally unstable conditions with downpours, thunder and strong wind, and that some cells could develop into full storms with gusty winds and hail.
Meteorologists expect similar conditions tomorrow: sunny and warm in the morning with small to moderate local cloudiness, and renewed instability in the afternoon in parts of the country. Temperatures are not expected to fall and may reach up to 35 degrees Celsius.
